Jet Black Carpets ***Merged with Black Dyed Carpets***

Simply dye your existing carpets with RIT fabric dye from Wally World:

I did buy new sill carpets for the black vinyl trim.

    Console insert is painted.

Everything was removed from the car.

Door carpets were dyed upright (carpet still attached to the door panels):

Rear bulkhead carpet was unstapled and dyed submerged out of the car:

    Black Dyed Carpets

A search for "black carpet" comes up empty, so I believe this hasn't been posted over here yet:

    #5939 has black dyed carpets:

Two years later they still look freshly dyed, so I consider the experiment a success.

Another owner has asked me to do the same for his carpets. I saved the dye from my own carpets, so if it heat activates OK again I will do his free of charge. Watch this space....

That looks nice and contrasts well with the grey/gray interior. Personally, I like contrast on cars in general. Too much of one color / monotone is boring IMHO.

    Well done!

What makes me roll my eyes is a certain New Jersey based self proclaimed DeLorean guru has apparently been telling owners that my dye job won't work, even though it now is two years old.

Well, that person obviously doesn't know what they're talking about then. We all know what they say about all theory and no practical experience, don't we?

Looks like vBulletin's search algorithm isn't smart enough to include "carpet" in "carpets". What crappy forum software -- I'm going back to DMCSouth (if I can remember how to log on).

$10,000 question: will two year old dye solution successfully reactivate?

i remembered your original thread because i thought your black carpets looked badass, and thus merged the two existing carpet threads.

interested to see how the two year old dye works out...

Just did a search for "bill robert". Only one hit: Post #23 in this thread (Robert Zemeckis): http://www.dmctoday.com/showthread.p...Meet-amp-Greet Obviously vBulletin can not search for included words (I didn't see an option for included words in Advanced Search either).
