Thread: Buying an accelerator pump for the Bill motorcraft carb

  1. #11
Bucking is actually lean drop. Air moves faster than liquid, so it takes a second for fuel from the bowl to respond to throttle plates opening. That's the purpose of the accelerator pump -- to squirt a little fuel directly into the throttle bores until it catches up through the venturis.

I've got to run an errand -- we'll deal with your turn signals after I get back (until then just give hand signals through that ridiculously small side window).

After a meter read, power is going to the fuse. The directional box/switch does not read power going to it. Took. The cover off the box, it looks fine. Nothing burned out or amiss.

    All other lights function fine.

Check for power at the harness connector under the steering column. It's a straight hot from the fuse to the harness connector.

Maybe in a few weeks. My otherwise running car gets grounded for piddly crap like this. Maybe it lost its ground.

Apparently the hazard button was stuck, which killed the circuit. Directionals work now

Can anyone link me to the autozone Help brand accelerator pump? Bills link doesn't work and I have a significant lean drop and I'd like to troubleshoot it with a replacement accelerator pump.
    Thanks

If I see the fuel squirt down the carb's throat when I pull the plates open, does that mean the acc pump is good? I guess for $4 I might as well just swap in a new diaphragm. If that doesn't fix my lean drop, I guess I'm going back to the carb with the stripped jet threads.
