I really wish they had made it at least a grand and only partially refundable. That would keep away all the people that think they are going to sell their place in line for a profit and the big talkers who just want bragging rights not to mention the youtube hacks claiming they "bought" a Cybertruck.

I think there is more to the story about pre orders. Heck 250k+ orders, that's a 25 mil interest free loan for Tesla(as if they needed it) or maybe being able to say 250k orders will up the valuation of the company or who knows what the logic is? All I know is it should take more than .0015% down to buy a 70k vehicle.

    Tesla Truck

I guess it goes without saying but I will most likely sell my DeLorean if this comes to fruition because I will not want to keep either outside.

    See you in 2 years.
I have been a electric car guy for years, long before they were in style! (Current Model 3 owner) I also ordered the Cyber Truck but I got the 3 Motor Version. I was thinking how cool would it be to have my DeLorean sitting on a Silver trailer being pulled by a Stainless Steel Truck.

If they have Lavender I'm in!

Electric cars will no doubt (barring a major battery material shortage) be the staple of most personal transport. Their only weaknesses are range and charge times and that is quickly being eroded by Moore's Law. By the time the Cybertruck hits the masses, I can see range for most EV's in the 500+mile area and charge times at 20 min or less for 80%(we are already at 20 min for a 50% charge). The infrastructure will do nothing but grow bringing supercharger stations to even remote areas like mine. Right now I have 3 around me.

I know we will probably never see a battery that pulls a passenger jet off the ground or sends a cargo ship across the Atlantic in my lifetime, but I am confident I will see an electric car in my driveway before I go to heaven. It may not be the truck (I am finding a new rekindled love for my DeLorean since I have started to do more work on it myself), but I will get an electric car one day even if it's for daily driver duty and never sees a garage.

The only thing that holds me back is the one thing that has me excited about the future...Moore's Law. If I do pull the trigger on the Cybertruck, will it be obsolete in 12 months? Will I plunk down $50k on a truck only to find out there is a new technology right around the corner making my fairly new truck the Betamax of motoring? That's one thing about my DeLorean that nobody can take away, staying power. It has survived the dark days of better, newer cars and still it stands out as a crowd pleasing design 40 years later. The Cybertruck captures my imagination but I'm not 100% sure my intrigue will translate to love for the next 10+ years of ownership. I am however sure of this; the passion and love I have for the DeLorean will follow me to my grave.

Um, you can’t apply Moore’s law to everything. Ask my wife.

When I get a cybertruck I'm going to do an engine swap.
