Hood came in today and I couldn't be more pleased. The stainless will look better than my old hood when finished. It will be a few weeks before I get it on. Thanks again!

Been working the hood for the last few days. It was nice but I want it to look Irish fresh. I removed the old seal and sanded it down to get all the old glue off. I gave it a coat of primer to show any bad spots then applied a few coats of Trim black followed by 2 coats of SEM matt clear. The clear coat really brings the uniform finish to a new level as well as protects the paint. I stood it back on edge and will let it cure for a few days before I replace any more hardware and apply the new seal.
My seal is a very neat and tidy self adhesive weather strip I used on my oe hood.

I would have replaced the OE seal even if it were fine.

After paint and test fitting of the carpet. I will glue them in this weekend with the new seal

Hood is installed. I placed my seal, glued in carpet and wired it up. The wiring was a major PITA. I bet I spent an hour before I finally decided to clip the blade terminals off the lamp end to fish them through. Resoldered and heat shrink wrapped in 10 minutes. Should have gone that route first. I grained the right side just to see how she will look. I still need to fin tune the alignment but I will do that after graining. Having the gap at the front makes it easier to grain the front of the hood without touching the fascia. Few very minor dents showed up after the shine but it's nothing my dent guy friend can't fix. I am going to have him go over the entire car just to get any waves out of the panels. Anyway I'm thrilled to have my car back together and next week I will continue on the winter refresh.

Thanks all! I still got some more work to do on it but getting it finished and installed was my goal this weekend.

I regrained the passenger side just to see how the scratches would come out. It was getting cold in the garage so I called it a day since I had been on it since 3pm. I will probably finish graining it tomorrow or Monday evening. Actually I will blend the entire car before spring.
