Thread: 80's Excesses & Debauchery

I can see why you feel that way about the Gin Blossoms, but their songs still hold good memories for me. Same for bands like Sublime, who are still my summer go-to.

Then there's bands like Pearl Jam. I have a free year of satellite radio, and while listening to a rock station Eddie Vedder gets on talking about his music. "I loved both Even Flow and Yellow Ledbetter, but the meaning in the lyrics for Yellow Ledbetter was so much more important...". Cut to the song and you hear "We bah onna por' gah do na gee... It onna lee it ah iiiin". Wow. I'm so touched.

I was at Jiu-Jitsu training last night. There were MMA/Jiu-Jitsu guys working on grappling/ground training. Some are 90's era age, others are younger (I'm the oldest.)

They have an Amazon Echo playing music, and a whiny/shitty song comes on (Oasis-Wonderwall.)

Dude #1: "Alexa, next song" (another candyass song comes on.) Dude #2: "Alexa, next" (same result.) One of the guys says: "OMG, WTF is this shit?!"

As I'm thinking to myself: "They should ask Alexa not to play shitty 90's music" I hear someone say "it's a 90's station" and another agree: "yup...90's shit."

    Hahaha....!

Good music from the 90's: Rob Zombie

    An 80's story for you:

1984, I was in my senior year of HS. I was in a public speaking class, and the teacher took a few of us on a class trip (in her personal car) to a news station so we could speak on camera for something.

On the way back, my friend asked the teacher to stop at his house so he could get something. I get out of the car with him and we go in his house & chug beers.

We get back in the car, giving no thought to the amount of beer breath that would fill the car. While driving, the teacher hands some mints to us in the back seat and says: "you guys should do something about the beer breath before we get back to school.

Everyone understood a good time back then.

If that was the 90's a teacher would probably need counseling. If it happened today, someone would be offended by it, and a lawsuit would be pending somehow. Haha

When you referred to the teacher as "her" and stopping by the house, I really thought that story was going in a different direction.

    I feel let down,

    and somewhat offended.
