I'm a big fan of early 90s spoken word rock group King Missile. They did so much more than "Detachable Penis."

You don't like church folk because someone on social media posted Old Testament scripture? Or was it one of the comments that you found upsetting?

There are actually several more places in the Bible dealing with homosexuality and sodomy, some of them being in the New Testament through Paul's various letters after Jesus' resurrection. Is it our place to judge? Nope. But those sinners need to get themselves right with the Lord through stopping their sins and repenting, else (again according to Paul) they won't inherit the kingdom of God better known as heaven.

I hope I one day have daughters. That way when a bunch of people come to my house demanding to gang rape my male houseguests, I can offer them my daughters instead. And later I will have sex with both of my daughters in a cave. I'm very Godly! (Genesis, Chapter 19, generally.)

That is certainly a troubling part of the Old Testament scripture. As are most of the sacrifices and offerings. As are so many deaths and evil. It makes me even more appreciative of the New Testament and God's grace.

It's not the posting of scripture that bothers me. It's the last comment from the exact same person who posted the scripture.

I see. I don't think the comment is representative of "church folk" as a whole.

It is, and the subject of a whole lot of mental gymnastics from scholars. There is a lot of beauty in the Bible, but also some parts that seem as though they were written by a tiny, hairy guy scratching out titillating absurdies by candlelight -- just for fun. As Bill liked to say back when he posted here, there a lot of non-canon Bible that is pretty entertaining.

I guess that's part of what makes the bible so interesting. It's a collection of stories over a very long period of time from many different authors/accounts. Much different than something like the Koran, where it's just a set of instructions written by one man over a much smaller period of time.

I am not surprised at all that you know that group.
