Rich wins. In any debate or argument involving 2 or more parties, the one who is first to accuse the other party(or parties) of racism, automatically wins....because the losers have been outed as racists and rightly so.

Poor Steve. It's funny to interject racism into something he commented on in facebok which was completely unrelated and watch the liberals agree with me and the conservative's heads explode.

There is a satellite internet company that keeps sending me a sales add. They have plans of 10 GB to 50 GB that also have 50 GB more of off hours. If you go over your amount they slow your connection to 1 to 3 mbit/sec. They never state the price so I assume their price if high. My cable internet I run about 25 GB a month and that's only the kids streaming a little YouTube occasionally.

I like satellite internet for the novelty. It is nice knowing I can still have communication after a major storm, providing the dish doesn't blow off the roof. Back when hurricane Katrina hit us, many people didn't have working phones or electricity for a month after the storm. I was without electricity for two weeks and most of the time my phone didn't work either.

But in all honesty, if you have cable or DSL internet and you are happy with it, you are better off sticking with what you have. In my area the only option I have for internet is AT&T DSL. It would sometimes go out and they kept going up on the price every year. I got tired of them going up on price and am happy to have an alternative.

With satelite you have to deal with latency and there is usually some sort of data cap. After you use your data cap, speeds slow down. I'm on a plan that only slows speeds down in the evening after using my 12 GB of data. During the early morning and day I get good speeds ranging from 1 mbps to 10 mbps. Works perfectly fine for my needs. I have a server that automatically downloads netflix content when my connection is fast, and then I watch that saved content in the evening when internet is slow.

I just re-read your post. That sounds like Hughesnet to me. I would stay away from them.

Hughesnet limits you to 50 GB during off hours. Viasat gives you unlimited data during off hours. My off hours are from 3am to 6am. Any downloads during those hours do not count towards using my 12 GB of priority data.

I am on a 12 GB plan and I used 105 GB last month thanks to my Playon/Plex server that downloads content during the early morning and day.

I still can't believe the folks over at Viasat called me racist for sharing this on the first day of Black History Month. Its a story being told by a black man. I suppose it would be racist if it was narrated by a KKK grand wizard, but it was not.
