Thats just nasty. No man in his right mind would put green sheets on a bed with a blue frame.
Rest assured, we have a backup of Farrar's car blog and it will be restored in the near future. (Steve Rice - March 2016)

My Spartan 1911 is finally finished! After doors to well known laser engravers closing in my face all over the country (they only want the easy work), I was able to find a nice gentleman in Texas with an awesome home business with industrial lasers that puts these big name engravers to shame. The one thing I really liked about the gun was the "MOLAN AABE" Greek text engraved into the slide...but they only did one side!! After making my grips and getting rid of the lame factory grips, I focused on doing something on the slide. I finally decided upon another well known Sparta saying "WITH YOUR SHIELD OR ON IT". This is what mothers would tell their loved ones as they went into battle. The Spartan shield is very heavy, about 40 lbs so if one were to abandon the fight, they would drop the heavy shield in order to run faster, and usually be killed for desertion upon arriving home. The saying is translated to come back with your shied (as in triumphant) or if you are killed in battle, your body will be carried home on it.

I did however want this saying to be in the ancient Greek text just like the factory side which was done at the Monument in Thermopylae. The problem was that saying in that particular Greek text font was nowhere to be found in Google land except one low res image, so I used it to get the characters right and drew up my own graphic and emailed it to the engraver. The guy took it and engraved it on my slide:

After receiving it back today, I gold inlayed the lettering to match the factory text, assembled it and and she is all finished! It's really nice to not only have a custom 1911 but one that I put so much of myself into. With the engraving, my custom designed and hand made grips, and the gold accents on front(I did lose the gold grip screws, I like the black ones better with the black edged grips), I think I have a pretty nice Dead Lesbian Goat custom 1911.

    Someone stop me, I don't need 3 1911's.

This 1911 infatuation of mine is all Josh's fault. Even so a pristine Colt for 850 seems like a good buy.

Speaking of 1911 A1s, if you didn't already know, the CMP is offering ~8k milsurp examples. I can't find the reference at the moment but seems like I read they were mostly first and second world war era. They're going to have a lottery to pick the winners who will then have the ability to purchase one. I'm in the same boat. I already have multiple 1911s but you can always find room for another.

I was waiting for those for a long time. They came from the Philippines. They're beautiful pistols, and such a good design that they're still sought after.
