The Sam's Clubs in my area are selling 30 pound tanks of R134a for $72.64 each. That's approximately $2.40 per pound! In light of questions regarding the future availability of R134a, I just picked up 3 tanks. That should leave me set for life ;-)

I've been preaching Sam's Club freon for years. Even gave a tank to Bill even though he insists the molecules in Big Lots freon is better.
Rest assured, we have a backup of Farrar's car blog and it will be restored in the near future. (Steve Rice - March 2016)

Sam's Club in Lumberton NC doesn't sell 30 lbs canisters (looked for myself while picking up tables for the church). They're on the website, but not on the shelves.
Advance is almost $100 cheaper than Autozone ($109). For me Advance only 1.5 miles away -- about $16 in fuel savings.

For those of us who buy fewer than 30 pounds at a time, there's this option.

$4.15 a can and shipped to your door for free.
IMHO, if you buy a 30 lbs canister, store its upside down (valve pointed towards the floor). They really are cheap valves and I think much less likely to leak liquid than a gas.

I'm really not trying to pick on you Bill, but why would do that when 134a is heavier than air?
Because if the valve is not 100% air tight the freon will evaporate. I've had it happen through can taps when trying to save partially used cans. It's bad enough to lose 12 oz -- losing 480 oz would hurt my feelings (it's not as though I can haul a couple of Uber fares to buy another canister).
You do with your canisters as you wish, and I will do with mine as I wish.
Surely you're not claiming that storing the canister upside down is harmful or detrimental.... (It *DOES* have legs to stand on upside down...).

Thank you.
I thought that went for everyone and most anything.
You are the one who shared an opinion as to what to do with one. I made no such statements, but simply asked a serious question, including a parenthetical expressing so. WTH?
That's correct -- I did not make/imply/etc any claims about the subject.
Even you called it "upside down" and I was simply curious as to why you do it.
fwiw: I assumed they have "legs to stand on upside down" so they would be stable on the scales and keep one from standing around holding 30 lbs, when charging liquid.
I agree those valves are crappy, why I dump them into the recovery system, first off...
P.S. You really SUCK

I haven't even implied I had qualms about your opinion, or you giving it!
"WTH?" had nothing to do with any of that.
The point was, YOU offered an opinion, while I did not, yet YOU come off with "You do with your canisters as you wish, and I will do with mine as I wish" BS. I don't need nor deserve you lecturing me over something I didn't do (hypocritically "telling me what I can do" in the meantime).
[Michael, Bill's back to his old self, so I doubt you'll need that weekly post to get entertainment, unless Bill gets back on (or is it off) his meds.]
P.S. Thank you for the Bill given right (and the option).
Does this mean that now I get to say when I am disagreeing with an opinion, or is that still up to you?
P.P.S. You really, really SUCK!
