"Crumple Extension" Inadequate For Real World Front End Impacts
This illustration did not make the transition from Google Groups to vBulletin:
How many owners realize that the DeLorean crumple extension is located far below the front "bumper" (front "bumper" is nothing more than a piece of foam overlaid with the flexible urethane fascia). Whatever protection the crumple extension provides depends upon the object being hit being approximately 5 inches tall. Some DeLorean owners love to trot out "hitting a wall" in defense of the crumple extension, but let's be honest: in the real world, how many people are hitting walls? Front impact tests at the time were only 5 MPH anyway.
