  1. The DeLorean "New Build" Misinformation Problem - Part 2

Ok; I said that the next update would be in May and it's now July. Such is life.

Now that we stand on the precipice of the possibility for there to actually be new DeLoreans, it requires a few key components:

    • The lawsuit over the "DeLorean" name and "DMC" logo.
    • What drivetrain will they use?
    • Will it use the same DeLorean frame?
    • What will the car cost?
    • Will this hurt the existing DeLoreans?

The most important parts of the ...

  2. The DeLorean "New Build" Misinformation Problem - Part 1

Odds are good that if you ever drive your DeLorean, you've been asked if it 's one of those "new" ones that they're building in Texas. This rumor refuses to die because it was spread by every media outlet that would print it without a thorough fact check. Numbers have ranged wildly between the percentage of parts that are being used that are NOS, but the more you look into it, the more you see that the amount of parts that are being reused is greater than they claim; I'd estimate it ...

  3. 5609: The Story of a Remanufactured DeLorean Part 5 of 5

I bought my car in Feb. 2009 and here I am, still smitten with my dream car. I just now realized this is the longest I have ever owned a single car. Granted none of my previous rides were this pricey, but they were all nice cars(eventually). I would spend months if not years bringing whatever car I was driving up to snuff, but no matter how nice I made them, I did move on. The car I had just before my DeLorean was a cherry 1991 300ZX. I loved those cars when they were new, and to an extent, that's ...

  4. 5609: The Story of a Remanufactured DeLorean Part 4 of 5

Over the years my car it has went from what I would consider a very nice DeLorean to an exceptional DeLorean. So what does "Exceptional" mean? As far as I'm concerned, it's not original, and certainly not Concurs. I have said it time and time again, I wouldn't trust even a concours original car to the quicky mart and back. A original DeLorean was plagued with quirks and problems that would easily leave you by the side of the road...and that was when they were BRAND NEW! That's just my ...

  5. 5609: The Story of a Remanufactured DeLorean Part 3 of 5

5609 is no doubt in the nicest condition it has ever been in. During my ownership period I have nit picked and labored away to make it into the absolute best DeLorean I could. Before I go any further, let me make one thing clear, this car is not something I idolize. It's a car, a bunch of parts built by other men, nothing more. It doesn't have a "soul" and I have no emotional attachment to it. If someone offered me 50k to sell it to them for their museum, and his friend offered me 51k ...
